MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two people are dead following a three-car crash that happened early Saturday morning on I-240, west of Getwell Road.

Investigators say Robert S. French Jr., was driving his car and was pulling over into the emergency lane because of a flat tire when a second car struck his vehicle from behind at a very high speed.

French’s car ran into a metal guard rail causing the car spin out of control. French was ejected from the car.

The second car, driven by Linzie Maxwell., reportedly continued to drive down the road hitting a third car and forcing it to run off the road and into a ditch.

Mazwell car flipped several times before landing upside down.

Both drivers, Maxwell and French, died on the scene. Everyone else involved in the crash was transported to Regional Medical Center in non-critical condition.
