WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. — An early morning fire led to a  tractor trailer explosion that shut down I-55 between West Memphis and Marion, Arkansas.

West Memphis Fire Chief Wayne Gately said the truck’s brakes locked up near mile marker eight and caught fire. Twenty to 30 acetylene 2.5 tanks exploded, sending debris flying across the interstate.

Traffic in both directions came to a stop as authorities cleared the scene.

Thankfully, it does not appear anyone was injured.
