MEMPHIS, Tenn — Police cars and crime tape lined the street after a woman called 911 and said her ex-husband had been shot and killed in her driveway.

Police told WREG it happened in the 5500 block of Fox Meadows Cove where the shooting has made neighbors worry about their safety.

One neighbor, who was too scared to show her face on camera, described what she saw before taking her six-year-old son to school Monday morning.

“When I woke up, I saw a guy laying on the ground at the end of the driveway. He had a truck that was parked right there so he was like right beside it,” she said.

Investigators have classified it as a domestic situation but the details remain sketchy.

Police received two 911 calls from the woman who lives at the house around 3:30 a.m.

The first time she said her ex-husband was slashing her tires.

Five minutes later, she called back and said he had been shot.

“It was really sad to see something like that. Just waking up early in the morning and seeing someone deceased right in front of your house, it`s right there,” said the neighbor.

Neighbors WREG spoke to said waking up to yellow tape and several Memphis Police Officers outside their home isn`t something they`re used to.

“I`ve never seen anything like it. We’ve seen ambulances out here if people are ill or something happens to them but never anything like this,” said another neighbor.

On scene, people said the woman’s current boyfriend shot the ex but nobody knew exactly how it all played out.
It’s something neighbors say they didn`t expect.

“It was really sad. It was like an eerie feeling, you know like, is this real?” said a neighbor.

Police have not released any suspect information at this time.
