Memphis Police Department announces new assistant chief

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Police Department has a new assistant chief of police.

MPD announced Thursday that Shawn Jones has been appointed to the position effective Sept. 13.

Jones, a 35-year law enforcement veteran, is retired from the Atlanta Police Department.

Current Assistant Chief Don Crowe will continue to oversee operations in MPD.
