(Memphis 06/17/2009) It's hard to imaging someone living in a building where wooden boards act like doors and the windows are broken. But for some in Memphis, those are their living conditions. Vacant, boarded up buildings are a part of Wooddale Condominiums. It's a place code enforcement has had their eye on for a year. Wednesday, they were out in full force conducting a comprehensive inspection. Wooddale Condo renter Tyshelia Lewis was happy to see them, "I'm glad to see code enforcement. I'll be glad to see them knock a couple of these places down. We can't even let our children play outside because you got to be out her with dogs and people shooting all times of the night."

Lewis says Wooddale has become a haven for criminal activity that she say includes dog fighting. Animal services made their rounds Wednesday finding dogs in empty builidings and roaming the property. Code enforcement officials say they are now working to put every owner on notice to either fix the problems are they'll consider condeming the property.
