FAST FACTS:
(Memphis 9/16/2009) A three car crash killed 14-year-old Meredith Fox, leaving a void for friends and faculty at Evangelical Christian School.
"When we came to class today and saw that empty desk where Meredith would have been sitting, it was very difficult to deal with for me. It was very emotional," said Brad Thornton, Fox's teacher at ECS.
Fox was one of three ECS teens in an Isuzu trooper that hit a curb, jumped the median and flipped over into oncoming traffic on the Walnut Grove-Humphreys flyover.
Fourteen-year-old, freshman Rachel Hyneman is still in critical condition at the Med after undergoing late night surgery on her legs.
The driver, 17-year-old Winston Miller, is back at home with stitches in his head. A family friend tells us his memory is foggy and he's in need of emotional healing.
"Yesterday he was a 17-year-old senior with no burdens no worries. Today he's dealing with driving a car that killed one of his dearest friends. That changes anybody's life24
Especially friends like Carly Stein. Three years ago she and Fox became fast friends after meeting on their club soccer team. Stein's bond was so strong with Fox that the two had bracelets and a goalie jersey made with Stein-Ox on the back. It's a combination of their last names.
"I love her and I'm going to miss her a lot," Stein said. "I hope she doesn't forget Stein-Ox and all the fun we had."
We're told Fox was also a member of Memphis Cheer and part of the youth group at Second Presbyterian Church.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday 5 p.m. Funeral Services are at 11 a.m. Friday Morning. Both are at Second Presbyterian Church on Poplar.
