(West Memphis, AR 7/2/2009) Two people are under arrest in connection with the disappearance of a former mayor.
Troy Anderson, the former mayor of Waldron, AR, went missing last week. Fort Smith Police say he disappeared under suspicious circumstances. They've been searching for a suspect caught on a surveillence camera using the former mayor's debit card.
About 7:00 p.m. Thursday night, police arrested two suspects in West Memphis. 21-year-old Mario Dawson and 20-year-old Jasmine Dawson, a.k.a Jasmine Carter, were apprehended at the Meadows Apartments on South Avalon.
They face charges of fraudulent use of a debit card, but are also being questioned about Anderson's disappearance.
Police searched the 75-year-old's home and found bleach had been poured on the carpet. They say there were no signs of a struggle.
Both suspects were held at the Crittenden County jail Thursday night. Fort Smith Police will be transporting them back to Fort Smith.
