FAST FACTS
The weather service's storm damage survey team says the twister touched down just before 5 p.m. Friday, near the truck weighing scales on Highway 78, about a mile southeast of Goodman Road.
The NWS says the tornado had a non-continuous track to the east northeast for nearly 3 miles. The track ended a few hundred yards east of Hacks Cross Road, about a half mile south of Goodman Road.
The NWS survey says tornado was packing 120 mph winds and was about 75 yards wide. Meteorologists say it formed on the leading edge of a bow echo that caused heavy damage across much of the Mid-South.
The tornado caused widespread damage across Olive Branch, downing many trees and power lines.
That's not news to Mary Pettit, she saw the tornado first hand.
"I could hear the noise of the tornado and I could see it. Next thing I know I see one of the big transformers go up in the sky... and it was just twisting... and broke in half," Mary said.
Power crews are still in the area restoring power. It could be up to a week before everyone's power is back on.
