Mike Matthews
Mike Matthews has a nickname, he's referred to as the "Government Watchdog." That's because Mike tackles the tough stories in city and county government.
Mike came to News Channel 3 in September 1997. He grew up in Walpole, Massachusetts and went to Curry College where he majored in communications.
His first broadcasting jobs were at television and radio stations in New England: Presque Isle, Maine, and Springfield, Massachusetts. Then, according to Mike, "I got smart and headed south to work in Columbia and Greenville, South Carolina, before parking myself in Charlotte, North Carolina."
Mike worked in the Queen City in television and talk radio for 13 years before moving to Memphis. He says he has grown quite fond of the Bluff City. "I can't believe how lucky a guy I am. I love this city. I love the history...the culture...the whole thing. This city has it all...and I love it."
