(Memphis 9/12/2009) We now know who will be on the ballot when you vote for Memphis Mayor next month.
Three mayoral candidates have called it quits.
Attorney Kenneth Baroff beat the noon withdrawal, pulling his name out of the running .
"it was a long shot at best. Without the financial where withall to pursue this. I think it would have been difficult to get my message out. The first reporter to come to interview me is now after I withdrew." says Baroff.
He joins Joe Brown and Harrel Moore, who also bowed out.
But some lesser known candidates aren't giving up. Candidate Johnny Hatcher Junior showed up at the Election Commission right at noon, but still declared he's in it to win it.
"Not only do I think I can win. I think you are talking to the next Mayor of this fair city, lord willing." says Hatcher.
Election officials say once the final list of 25 candidates is certified, it becomes official.
"The certification process will be actually the staff reporting to the Election Commission the number of candidates and the names of the candidates that have adequate signatures and have met the requirements to be qualified candidates." says Richard Holden with the Election Commission.
For some candidates, who's in and who's out really doesn't matter.
"Everyone is free to run in this race. We'll see how many candidates there are. I am confident the voters in this city will make the right choice. Myron Lowery is already doing what others are only promising to do." says Mayoral Candidate Myron Lowery.
The next step is up to you the voter.
You have until September 15th to register to vote in the Mayor's race.
Then from September 25th to October 10th you can vote early at satellite locations.
