(Shelby County, TN 10/30/2009) It was a long night for law enforcement across the Mid-South.

More than 200 officers from six different agencies went on a fugitive hunt, searching for more than 1400 hundred people with outstanding warrants.

"We certainly didn't expect to arrest 1400 people but as the night went on we were extremely pleased with the outcome," said Shelby County Sheriff Mark Luttrell

In the end 80 people were arrested. Guns, drugs and stolen property were confiscated.

"One was involving a traffic stop where our officers recovered $20,000 and 29 pounds of marijuana," said Memphis Police Department's Deputy Chief Mike Rawlings.

Stephanie Barrett lives in one of the areas targeted during the round-up.

"I think what they did last night was a great thing they need to do it more," said Stephanie Barrett, President of the Northwood Hills Neighborhood Association.

Barrett is happy to see authorities committed to reducing crime and making streets safer so is Susan Harmon. Harmon works closely with police patrolling her Waverly Farms neighborhood, one she says has changed over the years.

"It was very quiet when we moved in and it seemed if for the past three or four years to have gone down hill," said Harmon.

Shelby County Sheriff Mark Luttrell says law enforcement may be coming to rid your neighborhood of criminals soon.

"We need to send a message out to criminals we're not going to take it anymore. You will be caught. You might run but you will be caught," said Barrett.

During the round-up, Deputies and Officers also documented any criminal gang involvement of those arrested.
