Flames moved through four South Memphis homes overnight. The first scene was on James Street not far from Bellevue and McLemore.

Fire investigators say the blaze started around 1:30 A.M. at a vacant home and spread to the homes on either side, one of those was vacant, the other was not. The family was able to get out of that house.

One firefighter was taken to the hospital due to heat exhaustion. He is expected to be fine.

About an hour later, a fourth house caught fire on Rayner Street near Walker. A family was living inside but was able to get out without any injuries.

Authorities are not saying what caused either fire. About 70 firefighters in all played a part in putting out both fires.
