Council Holds Off Vote For City Attorney, Approves Sammons
(Memphis 8/4, 2009) Mayor Pro Tem Myron Lowery says "in the spirit of cooperation" he asked city council members to delay a vote on his appointment for a new city attorney for two weeks.

Lowery wants Elbert Jefferson out of the job and has already found a replacement, former U.S. attorney Veronica Coleman-Davis.

Some council members are concerned with the way Lowery has handled the Jefferson situation.

Council members did approve hiring former colleague, Jack Sammons, as a temporary CAO. The vote was 10-2.
