Crime in Memphis is on its way down. Memphis police say the overall crime rate in the Bluff City has gone down more than 14%.
They pulled the numbers from January 1st through June 30th of this year and compared them to the same time frame in 2006. Criminal homicides are down 12.5% compared to last year.
As far as other violent crimes, businesses robberies are down 41%, carjacking is down 21%, and rape 20%.
Memphis police are also giving you more options when it comes to reporting crimes anonymously. They've added a website for Crime Stoppers.
The software sends the tip through a clearing house in canada where any identifying information is removed before sending it to police.
