FAST FACTS:
  • A driver lost control of his car on White Station Road and crashed into an east Memphis home
  • The homeowner was not there at the time
  • The driver of the car was not seriously injured

(Memphis-10/29/09)-One east Memphis homeowner has some remodeling to do after a car slammed into his house early Thursday morning. The good news is no one was home at the time.

The crashed happened around midnight along White Station Road near Sea Isle Elementary.

"The front bumper shot down that entry way and went all that way to the other end of the hall way, which is about 10 feet. You can still see his rear view mirror right there both from the windshield and side view and then some oil from his car, he threw mud on the wall," said Rob Brown.

Rob Brown says the last thing he expected to find when he got home from work was a car upside down in the middle of his living room. He still can't get over the damage.

"It was just like wow, that is something you don't see every day," said Brown.

Police say around midnight the driver of this car lost control of his vehicle and drove through the front yard of two homes before slamming into this house. The impact caused the car to flip over.

Brown says his dog was in a back room when the car came through and wasn't hurt.

He still can't believe the driver wasn't seriously hurt.

"If you had seen the vehicle the passenger side is completely caved in. The entire passenger seat is destroyed so if there had been a passenger it would have been fatal. The fact that he was able to crawl out and walk 15 blocks to Quince and flag someone down is pretty amazing," said Brown . Brown says all of the damage can be repaired he is just thankful he wasn't here when this happened.

Police don't know yet if the driver fell asleep, was drunk or lost control for some other reason.
