Fast Facts:
  • Former Memphis Grizzles and Tiger Basketball Player Antonio Burks continues to recover at the Med
  • Burks still in critical condition and underwent fourth surgery today
  • His family is looking for answers.

(Memphis, 7/24/09) "It could have happened to anyone. He ain't deserve it. If I was on the other side... It don't matter who the person is people don't deserve it," said Chris Burks, the brother of Antonio Burks.

Burks is full of hope, but also frustration. His brother Antonio Burks underwent yet another surgery on a gun shot wound that hit a major artery in his leg during an armed robbery Monday evening. Now his family wants answers.

"The person who did it just step forward and just come on admit to what he's did," added Burks.

Today doctors worked to close the wound in his leg. Burks remains on a ventilator during his recovery, which his brother admits is hard to watch.

Chris says Antonio has had plenty of support, including a visit yesterday from his former Tigers Basketball Coach John Calipari and close family friend and former NBA player Penny Hardaway.

He says all the prayers are helping, but nothing would help more than having whoever shot his brother at this abandoned house behind bars. He says his brother is a victim of being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

"I'm telling the whole city, who ever know anything or something about what happened or the people, step forwards let someone know," said Burks.
