Beauty Shop Bandits Steal Thousands In Cash
FAST FACTS:
  • Lupe's Hair Salon robbed by 3 women
  • Robbers stole $4000 in cash
  • Police want to question possible witness

(Memphis 7/3/2009) Police are searching for a team of beauty shop bandits who robbed a Raleigh hair salon.

Three female suspects went inside Lupe's Hair Salon with plans for much more than a cut and blow-dry. They wanted cash.

Friday police released surveillence video of a woman they say is a possible witness. They believe she may be able to lead them to the 3 bold beauty shop bandits who walked in and robbed the place in the middle of the day.

Stylist Maria Guadalupe says by the looks of them, you never would've guessed.

"They looked like 3 normal ladies, one was even dressed up like she was a nurse," she said.

Guadalupe never suspected what was about to happen next..

"She just leaned over into the register and took the bags," she said. "They had the whole thing planned out."

Stylist Guadalupe Munoz demonstrated exactly how the crooks distracted them.

"They were looking at the picture, the other one was standing by the register," she said.

She thought one woman was simply checking out hair supplies on the bottom shelf. Instead, she says the crook grabbed another stylist's purse behind the register.

Inside it, was the nightly deposit about $4000 in cash.

"I ran out side, I was trying to get a license plate, no license plate, just green tags," said Munoz.

She says the thieves drove off in a white Ford Expedition.

Since the robbery, the salon has invested in a new security system, cameras are installed everywhere.

If you can help police contact the woman in the surveillence video, call Crimestoppers at 528-CASH.
