(Hernando, MS 10/19/2009) A fight that started over text messages ended the woods off of Sunset Drive and Malone Road in Hernando, Mississippi and has a 17-year old fighting for his life at LeBonheur.
"I started hearing like a male voice screaming and going crazy. It stopped for a second and then the next thing we heard were tires squealing out." Meleiah Robbins can't believe what people say happened here. Friends of the victim, who did not want to go on camera, say the 17-year old and some friends apparently met at the woods to fight another group of boys who were armed with baseball bats.
"Its pretty crazy and I wish the kid best of luck," said Robbins.
Police have arrested and charged 4 people for the attack. A 15-year old, his older brother David Jones, and Greg Jordan have been charged with aggravated assault and armed robbery. We caught a quick glimpse of Jones and Jordan as they were taken into custody. Jones' father, David, is charged with accessory after the fact to robbery. With the 17-year old clinging to life, those charges could be upgraded.
"You know right now what we're doing is hoping for the recovery of the victim in this case and that these charges stay what they are now," said Mississippi District Attorney John Champion.
