CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The city of Clarksville is planning a display of trees that will honor the 101st Airborne Division.
The city has reached an agreement with the Tennessee Department of Agriculture to grant the city half of the $8,000 it needs to plant 40 trees at an intersection near the Fort Campbell military post. The Leaf-Chronicle reports that the trees would be arranged as a circle enclosing a smaller star-shaped formation that would be visible from overhead.
City forester Clint Patterson came up with the design as a way of honoring the 101st Airborne Division.
The design will include shumard oaks, Kentucky coffeetrees and bur oaks.
Patterson says the trees would be planted either late this fall or in early spring 2010.
