(Memphis 09/01/2010) Mayor A C Wharton is leading the way by meeting with union leaders and other office holders to get answers to the new $57 million question.

He wants suggestions on where to find it.

"We're not going into this saying we've got to raise taxes. We first got to see where we can cut to become more efficient but that's way down the line," said Wharton.

First the Mayor wants to hear from taxpayers.

Through an email, the Mayor announced his plan to hold a virtual town hall meeting.

Citizens will go to community centers in their neighborhoods and talk via camera with Wharton and his directors at city hall.

The meeting will also be carried on line and those logging on can email or tweet their suggestions and questions.

Wharton said, "It's going to impact everybody. Everybody ought to have first hand knowledge of what we're going through and how we got to where we are."

The mayor held a virtual town hall meeting once before when he first took office to get input from citizens on a variety of issues.

His administration says it was extremely successful.

They'll be scheduling the date of virtual town meeting soon.
