( Memphis 12/01/2009) Thousands of social security numbers posted on-line, has a Virginia watchdog group labeling a Shelby County office holder "the king of stupid."

But behind the name-calling, come real concerns about your personal information.

With a few keystrokes, the Shelby County Register's website opens the doors to millions of documents on-line.

But, hidden in thousands of those documents are something many people never knew about.

"No, no, that's outrageous," said David Lomax of Memphis when WREG On Your Side Investigators showed him documents printed off the site showing people's names and social security numbers.

"With the identity theft you have going on, I just don't think you should have that information available to anyone," said Felecia Hailstock.

While Leonard Draper was even more direct when he saw what was available on the internet. "I really don't want to be violated like that," he said.

But violating is exactly what Betty, "BJ" Ostergren says is happening.

Calling herself The Virginia Watchdog, Ostergren has spent years pushing government websites to either take down, or black-out documents displaying people's social security numbers.

Now her sights are set on Shelby County Register, Tom Leatherwood's website.

"It's a treasure trove of social security numbers," said Ostergren by phone. "He is spoonfeeding criminals."
