Van der Sloot Sentenced to 28 Years
24-year-old Joran van der Sloot was sentenced to 28 years in a Peruvian prison for killing a woman there in 2010.

Van der Sloot pleaded guilty earlier this week. He faced a maximum of 30 years in prison.

Van der Sloot could be released in 2038 after receiving credit for time served.

He could be extradited to the U.S. to face extortion charges related to money he allegedly received from Natalie Holloway's family. Van der Sloot was one of the last people to see the teenager alive in Aruba in 2005.
