Tuck & Dotson Clash In Jail
(Memphis 03/26/2010) - 2 notorious Memphis prisoners clash behind bars. News Channel 3 has learned convicted serial rapist Bruce Tuck and accused Lester Street murderer, Jessie Dotson had a run-in at the Shelby County jail.

The Shelby County jail is home to both the man known as the Big Bellied rapist and the man police say killed 6 people at one time on Lester Street.

Bruce Tuck and Jessie Dotson are likely two of the most high profile inmates being housed there while they await their trials.

"They were separated and have been separated every since they've been here. So, they're not together," said James Coleman, director of Shelby County Jail.

Tuck and Dotson are housed by themselves because of their crimes and notoriety but through their bars they share a television.

That TV is the source of the dispute between the 2 that happened a week and a half ago. Tuck said he couldn't see it. That's when the two started sparring verbally.

"There was no altercation between Jessie Dotson and the Big Bellied Rapist," said Coleman.

He added, "Just like inmates, they just got to arguing."

The two never had physical contact with the other but Tuck did throw a cup of water from his cell in Dotson's direction. The jailer calmed them down. We met Eddie Smith. Smith was at the jail visiting his cousin and tells us situations like that aren't too uncommon.

Smith said, "He gets to fighting over the phone almost every other day. Commissaries. They get to fighting over commissaries. Folks be trying to take his snacks. It's just crazy. It ain't no where no man should be."

After the incident with Dotson, the next day Tuck lashed out again. This time his target was a female deputy jailer. It wasn't water he threw but Urine. That reminds Smith of another place he's visited.

"It's like being in a zoo, an animal cage. I heard the woman say today feeding time was over with. Lock down. You know, it's just like being at the zoo," said Smith.

Dotson no longer has to worry about Tuck complaining about the television.

After throwing the urine on the jailer's pants and shoes Tuck was placed in administrative segregation. That's the one place in the jail where no TV is allowed.
