(Memphis 02/06/2010) - A Memphis City School teacher is out of the classroom for a while and in jail after he's caught trying to have sex with a 17 year old boy. The teacher is being held on a $10,000 bond.

"He's a teacher at my school," said 6 year old Aisha, student Ford Road Elementary.

6 year old Aisha knows 41 year old Timothy Sanders as a teacher at Ford Road Elementary school. However, he's now got a different title, inmate at the Shelby County Jail. He's charged with solicitation and sexual exploitation of a minor.

"It's good that he's in jail. He needs to be. Throw away the key," said Diane Patterson, Aisha's mother.

Police arrested the elementary school teacher after they caught him at a Mud Island Park at 1 a.m. Wednesday morning. An officer on routine patrol saw Sanders' vehicle parked there. Inside the vehicle with him was a 17 year old boy. Police say Sander's private parts were exposed and he was ready for sex but the report states the victim became uncomfortable and told Sanders he wanted to walk home. Police also say the teacher went to the boys home to pick him up and had previously sent him sexually explicit text messages. He asked questions like, "what type of sex do you like?" "what type of sex do you like performed on you?" The teens father is the one filing the complaint against the teacher.

A woman who identified herself as Sander's sister said she had nothing to say about the arrest when News Channel 3 visited his home. Meanwhile, back in the neighborhood around Ford Road Elementary, they've got plenty to say.

"It upsets me to see a grown man mess with children. I don't like for them to mess kids, girls. Then for him to try and mess with a boy. That's pitiful. That's pitiful for him to do and if he's in jail, he's in the right place," said Cleveland Robinson, South Memphis.

Sanders is scheduled to be arraigned in court Monday morning.
