(Memphis 6/8/2010) Memphis firefighters still haven't released the cause of a fire that sent five people, including an infant and toddler, to the hospital late Monday night.

It happened at the Los Feliz apartments on Ketchum Road right near I-240 and Airways.

Eight apartments in all had some sort of fire damage.

Two apartments were gutted. One was vacant and the other housed a family of four.

"I looked out the window and all I saw was fire. I was just oh my God, said Yolanda Williams.

Yolanda Williams still can't believe the damage to the apartments.

Her cousin was one of the lucky ones because she only had fire damage to one bedroom.

"The way this fire went through we thought it was going to blow up," said Williams.

The fire started in an apartment where a young couple and their two children were sleeping.

Neighbors had to bang on their door to wake them up.

Williams recalls some tense moments when family members realized a 4-month old was still inside.

"The mother and oldest girl were standing out and she was saying my baby is in there and we were like oh my God and by that time he went back to the house," said Williams.

The man was able to rescue his son and thanks to neighbors everyone in the building made it out safely.

Chris Golden says everything happened so fast.

"I could see the fire trickling down and I was just helping everyone get their kids out," said Golden.

"They were just banging and were saying is your house on fire," said Cannon.

Tricia Cannon's apartment on the end wasn't on fire, but there was smoke coming through the building. In fact, it was so bad her husband suffered a seizure.

This is the second fire the couple has been through and she's grateful others were looking out for them.

"God he blessed us again that we made it out there safe," said Cannon.

The 4-month old, a two year old and their parents were all transported to area hospitals and treated for smoke inhalation.

The man who suffered the seizure also went to the hospital. No word on their conditions tonight.

Neighbors say the apartments did have working smoke detectors.
