  • Reports of gambling and alcoholism
  • Now Iverson is responding to the reports
  • (Memphis TN 3/9/2010) Reports of alcoholism and an extreme gambling habit are said to be plaguing the former Memphis Grizzlies player. Zach Randolph says he's been reaching out to his former teammate. "You know I try to call, I support him and what he's going through, he's a good friend of mine," said Randolph. The report was released yesterday in a column by Stephen a. Smith from the Philadelphia Inquirer. Quoting several NBA sources smith wrote "Iverson will either drink him into oblivion or gamble his life away." And Smith said it's so bad, Iverson has been banned from casinos in Detroit and Atlantic City. "He was a great veteran, and you know I'm praying for him right now and I hope his time gets better," added DeMarre Carroll when speaking about Iverson's time with the Grizz. Iverson's high school sweet heart just filed for divorce last week after eight and a half years of marriage. Iverson who only played a handful of games for the grizzles this season and 25 games for the 79ers before he left decided to respond to some of the reports through his twitter account. "Even though i have become used to hearing people say things about me that aren't true, it still hurts. I encourage you to continue your ongoing support." His former teammates only had supportive things to say, in hopes to see him back on the court. "He can still play obviously he can still contribute in a big way to anybody I hope the best for him and hope that everything works out for him," said Conley. "He's strong person he will be okay," said Randolph. Iverson has played not only with Grizzlies and the Philadelphia 76ers, but the Denver nuggets and Detroit pistons.
