( Memphis 07/08/2010) It has happened again, another Shelby County inmate has escaped while getting medical attention at the MED. If you're keeping track, that's twice in two days. With both inmates still on the run, we're learning more about them as questions remain about how they're making the slip.

Shelby County Sheriff's Officials are scratching their heads this evening wondering how, Mario Jackson, was able to escape from two corrections deputies who stood guard outside a men's bathroom inside the MED.

"His ankle bracelets around his leg apparently had been loosened and the minute he came out of the bathroom, he broke free from them and went straight down the hall," said Shelby County Public Information Officer Steve Shular.

The search is now on for Jackson who is no stranger to the judicial system.

According to court documents, in February of 2008 Jackson broke into an East Memphis doctor's home and robbed a couple at gunpoint, taking a mink coat, three carat diamond ring, Rolex watch, and money. Documents say he threatened to kill the couple and their children if they called police.

The affidavit says he then tried to extort $10,000 from the couple and stole their 2008 Jaguar. Even behind bars, documents say, he was a troublemaker.

In March of 2008, officers found marijuana in a lotion bottle in his cell. Then in November of 2009, an affidavit says he spit on a female officer. Shelby county officials are asking everyone to remember his face and be on the lookout.

"Jackson had ties to the Southeast Shelby County area where he was booked many months ago so they'll be focusing on those parts of town. They'll also be talking to his relatives and friends, anyone that may know him that would have any information about his whereabouts," said Shular.

The Sheriff's Department is launching an investigation into how Jackson was able to escape. They're asking anyone with information call Crime Stoppers at 528-CASH.
