HERENTON CHILD SUPPORT HEARING ON APRIL 1

(Memphis 1/14/2010) The timing could be a lot better.
Former Memphis Mayor Willie Herenton plans on starting his Congressional Campaign on February 6th. He's running in the primary against incumbent 9th district Congressman Steve Cohen.
The primary is in August. Herenton's child support trial will be a little earlier.
You've got to give it to the ex-mayor. He and controversial issues danced a tango for the 18 years he was in office. He was involved with more controversial stuff than a Tipton County hound dog has got fleas. One of the most talked about issues of his time, was when he announced in 2002 that he was the father of a newborn baby boy.
The mother of that child is Claudine Marsh. She moved from Memphis, but came back in the news this year after Herenton retired. She said Herenton didn't factor in his pension or other aspects of his income in their child support plan, and she said he was short changing them.
The two sides will meet again on April 1st.
