FAST FACTS:
(Frayser 2/08/2010) The Memphis Police Department received more than 140 vehicle crash calls during Monday's winter storm.
The slippery roads are also being blamed for a two car crash that sent three children to the hospital. The impact was so strong Eddie Tharpe says, "It sounded like a bomb went off to tell you the truth."
Airbags deployed in both cars and windows shattered in the Ford Explorer involved in the crash.
Children's clothes and toys flew out of the car, littering the ground in front of Tharpe's house.
Marcie Ageet was driving the blue minivan involved in the crash. She was headed east on Dellwood when she says the Explorer started fish-tailing in the snow on the opposite side of the street. "I didn't have time to react," recalled Ageet. "I said 'Lord help me! Just help me!' By the time they were sliding they were coming straight for me."
Ageet's car was damaged but she and her son made it out of the crash okay.
The three children in the Explorer weren't as lucky.
After the crash their parents raced to Tara Tharpe's door for help
"They basically said someone hit them, the kids were hurt and they asked us for help."
Paramedics rushed the three young children to LeBonheur. One of them, a five-year-old boy was taken in critical condition.
The one and seven-year-old are in good condition.
A booster seat was in the S-U-V for the one year old, but investigators aren't saying whether the child was strapped in or if the other two were in seat belts.
