(Memphis 07/28/2010) News of the probable discovery of Lorenzen Wright's body brought hundreds to the crime scene, even backing up traffic on Hacks Cross Road.

A massive crowd gathered as word spread that Lorenzen Wright's body was found in a wooded area off of Hacks Cross Road Wednesday. Many of his close friends, still in disbelief.

"I mean I can't believe it, when I got the call, I mean my mom she called me and I broke down crying I mean I really I couldn't even take it," said Jasper Shaw.

"I didn't want to believe it, you know, even though people said they had found his body. I was just hurt they had found his body and to have someone tell me that and I had to come see it for myself. I just wanted to see it for myself," said Kevin Nelson.

"It's just very heartbreaking. He was a wonderful person to work with, it's just so unfortunate. I knew in my heart something had gone wrong," said Wendy Wilson, Wright's former personal assistant.

Many people in the crowd, like Melissa Polk, had never met Lorenzen Wright personally, "I think that he's a positive person and he was doing for the community."

She is just one of the people who said she had to be there. Many of the folks who came only knew Lorenzen Wright as the hometown basketball star. They followed the news of his disappearance, holding onto hope that he would be found alive, and devastated to know his life could have come to a tragic end.
