( Memphis 3/15/2010) A Shelby County Sheriff's Deputy is off the job after he was arrested for drunk driving.
Marc Smith has been released on bond.
Memphis police say his blood alcohol level was double the legal limit when he slammed into a parked car.
Smith told officers he swerved to avoid a deer.
It happened early Friday morning on Timber Creek Drive, near the Trinity Shopping Center in Cordova.
The sheriff's office has suspended Smith with pay.
He's been with the department for less than a year.
