110 North Main is a brand new building in the heart of downtown.

Its extremely modern on the outside, located steps away from some of the largest law firms and businesses in Memphis.

The school's principal says it's the perfect location for the charter school "The New Consortium of Law and Business".

"Downtown is where everything is. Now with the new University of Memphis Law School and all of the businesses and law centers here students are going to be able to tap into some of the greatest resources that our community has," says Tommie Henderson, Principal.

The school will start with 35 seventh graders and add a grade each year. Each grade could very likely be located in a different downtown building.

The first floor of the first new building is being divided into a lobby, study room judicial amphitheater, café and lounge and board room.

The teachers will be certified in all major subjects not just one as required in most schools. The idea is teach students the basics while preparing them for the future, which for some could be just a few feet away in some law office.

Henderson said, "We're going to have lawyers and business people come every week to speak to our students and talk to them as well as interact with them and help them be able to develop themselves into the type of intellectuals that we want them to be."

The principal Tommie Henderson started the very first charter school in Memphis. It grew to be one of the largest with 900 students.

This one will start small and stay small. The school is still accepting students.
