(Dyersburg, TN 12/10/11) - The Dyer County Sheriff's Department says a badly decomposed body belonging to a woman was found on Harness Road Saturday afternoon.
Those that live in the area fear the body could belong to the missing mother of four, Karen swift. The Dyer County woman went missing in the early morning hours of October 30th.
Investigators found her car on the side of Millsfield Highway with a flat tire. Swift was nowhere to be found. The Sheriff's Department searched the area by helicopters, horseback, and four-wheelers hoping to find something that would lead them to Swift.
She lives off of Willie Johnson Road, just a few miles from where the body was found. One neighbor told News Channel 3 that she was not aware of the sheriff's department ever searching the area where the decomposed body was found.
Investigators have not confirmed the body found this afternoon belongs to the 44-year-old woman. It has been sent to the Shelby County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the identity and cause of death.
