- Biker killed after hit and run
- Family pleas for justice
- Night club to host fundraiser
(Memphis 08/14/2011) A father needs your help to bring his son's killer to justice.
37-year-old Christopher Davidson died after he was struck by a hit and run driver early Friday morning.
"He was the son that everyone wish they had, never no trouble," said Don Davidson, victim's father.
It's been a tough few days emotionally for Don Davidson and his family. They're making funeral plans for his 37 year old son, Chris. Chris died after someone ran over him on his bicycle during the early morning hours of Friday.
Davidson said, "I can't believe that there is any type of person that could do something like that. It's just uncalled far."
Chris, a music lover and avid outdoorsman, had ridden his bike to the High Tone Club in midtown to listen to a live band Thursday night.
"The last picture anyone took of him was the band took it from on stage. He's right in the middle. Rock horns up, big smile on his face. I left that night and said, 'later man' and woke up in the morning people calling me," said Severin Allgood, High Tone employee.
It's believed Davidson was struck around Madison and Cooper. That is where his father says a friend found his cell phone. However, somehow after Chris was hit he managed to get back on his bike and ride about a mile down the road to his girlfriend's house. He told her what happened but then collapsed and died.
His father said, "With all of the massive injuries the medical examiner said he had I don't know how he made it that far, massive broken ribs, internal bleeding, busted spleen."
Chris will be buried in a Kiss casket in honor of his favorite rock band. The High Tone is holding a fundraiser Wednesday night at 7 p.m. to help defray some of the cost. They hope doing something good for his family will help ease the burden of enduring something so horrible.
Allgood said, "It's very indicative of Memphis that someone would run over him and not stop. And, I think that's the city we live in and I'm pretty sick of it."
If you have information about what happened somewhere around the Overton Square area early Friday morning, the family asks you call Crime Stoppers at 528-CASH.
