"Between 300 and 400 units are being delivered today. We will be delivering others in the near future. Getting them to people who desperately need them," said Maj. Mark Woodstock, Salvation Army, Memphis.
News Channel 3 personalities joined the many volunteers to try and help prevent what has become a deadly problem.

The stories moved many to do their part to help including St. Georges High School football team.
"I couldn't imagine being an elderly person without an air conditioner. I'm just glad they put this together so we could get air conditioners to Memphians," said Matt Thomson, St. Georges High.
News Channel 3 meteorologists, Tim Simpson and Jim Jaggers made a number of these special deliveries.
Jaggers said, "It feels terrible to predict temperatures in the hundreds and teens and heat indexes in the hundreds and teens. It's nice to be able to help the people who are suffering in the heat."
Their efforts were much appreciated.
"It's going to help me out a lot. I'm going to put this in my living room when football games fixing to come on," smiled Paula Sanders, Memphis.
The air conditioners were delivered to the elderly, disabled and those with young children who are most at risk during this dangerously hot weather.
"It makes me feel real great that you got people out there that care about other people," said Marilyn Scott, Memphis.
More than $46,000 was raised during our "Beat The Heat" campaign.
