FAST FACTS:
(Memphis 11/18/2009) Germantown police say they found 16-month-old Isaiah Snipes unresponsive Saturday inside a Germantown condo.
Snipes later died. An autopsy revealed he was killed by blunt force trauma to the stomach. His father, Curtis Morris, was charged with second degree murder.
Thursday, the Child Advocacy Center held a flag raising ceremony for the fourth time in the past few weeks. The flag raisings are designed to remember a child killed because of neglect or abuse.
Following the shooting death of 16-year-old Alex Bolar, there was criticism over the lack of public response to his death, at a time when there was an outcry over poor conditions in the Memphis Animal Shelter.
Virginia Stallworth is with the Child Advocacy Center, "People who neglect and abuse animals are often the people who neglect and abuse children."
Animal supporter, Diane McManus says it's not an either or situation, "All abuse is connected, its about a stronger person over powering a weaker person."
McManus and other supporters of change at the Memphis Animal Shelter have responded to the criticism, by agreeing to not only show support against the abuse of animals but to also be a vocal voice also against the abuse of children.
McManus, "If we are helping an animal, that will help a child, because it's a mindset, you don't do this."
Thursday, she wasn't there, but says that's going to change. It's all about stopping abuse in general.
