(Germantown, TN 11/17/2009) Germantown Police have charged Curtis Lee Morris, Jr., 27, of Germantown, with second degree murder after the death of his 16-month-old child on Saturday.
Police were called to an unconscious child at Fountain Square Condominiums. The 16-month-old child was taken to Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital where he was pronounced dead by the emergency room physician.
An autopsy conducted by the Shelby County Medical Examiner determined that the child died as the result of violent blunt force trauma to the abdomen which caused internal bleeding and massive damage to internal organs. Subsequent investigation by the Germantown Police revealed the child's death was caused by, the father Curtis Lee Morris, Jr.
Morris is being held in the Germantown jail on $300,000 bond. Arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday, December 9.
